Welcome to the Climate Partnership! We are dedicated to transforming the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead into a sustainable and greener place for residents, professionals, and visitors. Our goal is to foster collaboration among community groups, businesses, and experts, uniting their efforts to instigate positive change in local areas through innovative projects.
At the heart of our mission lies a commitment to partnering with local communities and businesses throughout the Borough. We aim to facilitate the exchange of best practices, expertise, and resources, offering comprehensive support every step of the way.
In instances where financial assistance is required to kickstart initiatives, the Climate Partnership stands ready to provide a modest fund. Together, let's embark on a journey towards a greener future for Windsor and Maidenhead!
How we work
Our program of events and funding decisions all go through our Steering Group. Our Steering Group vary in talents from business to academia but are united in the goal of wanting RBWM to be a greener. Ideas and proposals can be put to our Board via the Climate Partnership Coordinator.
What sort of projects are we looking to fund?
We are looking for proposals that can get off the ground quickly and that benefittheir local communities.
We are working with RBWM to help them meet their Environment and Climate Strategy aims and are looking for projects that can assist with this.
For example:
Reducing carbon emissions including those relating to energy use, food, buying thing and/or travel
Utilising the outdoors to help improve wellbeing and health
Increasing biodiversity – including creating habitats, wildflower planting, tree planting, small wetland creation, urban agriculture etc.
Community clear up events
Composting initiatives
Upcycling, recycling, retrofitting or reusing resources programmes, workshops and/or schemes
If you have an idea that is not like any of these, we would still love to know what it! Just fill out a project proposal form and sent it to our Climate Partnership Coordinator.

The Climate Partnership is planning a Climate Conference for October 2024 and we want to know what it is you want to hear!
We are planning on having speakers and workshops on the things that will help you tackle climate change in your locality.

If you or your community need a small fund to help kickstart a project - get in touch and fill out a project proposal form.
All project proposals go through to our Steering Group. Should you wish to talk about your proposal before filling out the form please contact the Climate Partnership Coordinator heather.mynott@rbwm.gov.uk.
We are offering three grant sizes: small (up to £500), medium (up to £2000) and large (up to £5000) to help get projects started.
Cookhams Footprint is a volunteer-led group on a mission to “empower our community to tackle sustainability in Cookham and dramatically improve the wellbeing of Cookham, individually, as a community and a place with local people at its heart”.
The Wildlife Gardens Awards are a volunteer-led initiative supported by the ‘Wild’ organisations across the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead to encourage everyone to put wildlife at the heart of their outdoor space.
MaidEnergy’s ‘Large Scale Solar’ project, which is delivering locally generated and locally owned renewable energy. Their new community share offer will fund the installation of 240kW of solar PV on the roof of Furze Platt Senior school, representing MaidEnergy’s biggest installation to date and providing long-term, secure renewable energy supply to Furze Platt Senior School at a fixed low cost.
