Here are some of the upcoming community events and volunteering opportunities in the Royal Borough.

Come along to a friendly and welcoming community that brings people together to support each other’s mental wellbeing through uplifting, social, and completely free activities. We run two types of groups:

  • Friends in Need (General Group) – open to all adults living in Windsor, Ascot, Maidenhead, Bracknell, and Slough who are experiencing mental health challenges.
  • Peers2Pals – for young people aged 17–25 in East Berkshire who are experiencing mental health challenges.

COME and JOIN US - The Arts Society Englemere (Ascots evening Arts Society). The Arts Society is a leading charity established for furthering knowledge and appreciation of the arts.

  • Englemere is a thriving society with a lively membership of 100+.
  • We meet at Royal Ascot Golf Club, Winkfield Road, Ascot, Berkshire, SL5 7LJ, on the second Tuesday evening of each month.
  • We have regular visits to stately homes, museums, exhibitions.
  • Additionally, we have an annual guided tour in the UK or abroad.
  • The Lecturers are approved by The Arts Society and are of high quality and are experts in their own field.

Busy Buttons’ work is incredible, as they champion creativity in young people, supporting over 6,000 beneficiaries annually. Busy Buttons is based locally in Windsor providing creative programmes and community events, but has outgrown the premises they are currently in. Are you looking for a new hobby in 2026 - Singing is fun and great for your health. Signature A Cappella Singers are looking for new members and would like to invite any women who are keen singers. Community orchard tree pruning session at Ockwells Park, Maidenhead SL6 3AA on Saturday 10 January, 10am to 1pm. Meet in the car park. Learn a new skill and get some fresh air to start off the year! No experience necessary, bring your own secateurs and pruning saws if you have. Dress warmly and bring water and snacks.


Age Concern Windsor's Monthly Sunday Lunch on the 2nd Sunday of the month 11am to 2.30pm at the Spencer Denney Centre, Windsor (SL4 4EB), These run throughout the year and the next one is Sunday 11 January and then Sunday 8 February. We host a 3 course roast dinner at our centre for older people and their carers. Everyone is welcome with an older person, £12pp. Please book on 01753 860685 or email.


Rowing Taster Session at Eton Excelsior Rowing Club on Sunday 11 January 12pm to 3pm at EERC, 14 Maidenhead Rd, Windsor, SL4 5TY. On this introductory indoor session, you'll be introduced to the club and given a tour of the facilities. There will be existing club members around to assist you who have varying degrees of experience in the sport, with some learning to row very recently, and others having competed at national level. We will show you the basics of the rowing technique on our indoor rowing machines and let you try to start to get the feel for it by doing some drills. Please note this will be a land based session due to the unpredictable nature of the winter weather. Come and celebrate Eton Excelsior’s bicentennial year. ADS Charity Winter Concert – Local award-winning choirs will perform timeless tunes from the 1940s to the 1990s at Sue Cormack Hall, St George’s School, Ascot on Sunday 11 January, 6pm (doors open at 5.30pm). Maidenhead Choral Society return to rehearsals on Monday 12 January, 7.30 to 9.30pm in St Edmund Campion Church, 40A Altwood Road, Maidenhead, SL6 4PY. A small friendly choir, always ready to welcome new members of any voice and without audition. They will begin work on pieces to be performed at their next concert in May. The music is Schubert’s Mass no 2 in G as well as shorter modern works by Cecelia McDowell and Whitacre. Please come and give them a try! Winter garden openings to help raise money for Nursing and Caring charities. These openings take the format of an hour-long, beautifully illustrated slideshow talk held indoors about Winter in my garden, followed by a wander at leisure around the garden itself and serving homemade cake and tea or coffee. Held at St Timothee, Darlings Lane, Pinkneys Green, Maidenhead, SL6 6PA on Tuesday January 13 and Thursday January 15, 10.30am to 12.30pm and we will start promptly at 10.30am with the indoor talk. The garden was voted as the Nation's Favourite garden in 2022 and is renowned for its year round interest with lots to enjoy in winter. Booking is essential as seats for the indoor talks are limited.


The Maidenhead Women’s Group for European Friendship invite you to a talk on “Out of This World! How amateur astronomers and Maidenhead Newlands School students are helping a European space mission study 1000 exoplanets”, presented by Adrian Jones. This will take place on Wednesday 14 January at the United Reformed Church in Maidenhead at 11.00 am. Doors open at 10.30 for refreshments. Visitors welcome, £5 payable at the door. Bazaar & Coffee Morning at St Marks Crescent Methodist Church, Allenby Road, SL6 5BQ on Saturday 17 January, 10am to 11.30am. Our first coffee morning for 2026 will be a lovely friendly morning to bring family, friends and neighbours. Coffee is served all morning in our friendly Hub. Stalls include: home baked cakes, stationery, books, CDs, DVDs, bric-a-brac, with many items to choose from for gifts, home, personal, all at good prices. The Man Who Would be Jack: The Hunt for the Real Ripper with Author David Bullock at Windsor Library on Thursday 22 January, 7pm to 8.30pm. Join David Bullock at Windsor Library where he presents a compelling theory that may point to the true identity of Jack the Ripper. The author re-examines Inspector Race's and the journalists' findings and uncovers startling new evidence to support the idea that Thomas Hayne Cutbush was indeed Jack the Ripper. This is a fresh, exciting detective and whodunnit story that whips along at a cracking pace. Please note this is an event for adults and there will be a bar available on site. Art - Bites - Crafts at St Mark's Crescent Methodist Church, Allenby Road, SL6 5B on Monday 26 January, 10.30am to 12.15pm. Art is organised by our lovely artist Asmat. No experience necessary, this is fun and no pressure. Light refreshments, filled rolls from 11.30am. Different activities available. A donation towards refreshments will be appreciated. The Arts Society Windsor invite you to attend our January lecture on “Paul Nash and the Landscape of Mystery” presented by Colin Pink, AS accredited lecturer. Paul Nash is one of the most important British modernist artists. He is often associated with art movements such as Neo-Romanticism and Surrealism, but he is a poet of the visual and his work remains hard to categorise. Age Concern Windsor are looking for some male volunteers to help out a new Mens' Breakfast club. The club will be run on various Sundays throughout the year, dates to be decided up to one a month. Volunteers would need to be happy to do some of, setting tables, serving refreshments and breakfast, handling cash and cleaning up after. The Club will be open 10.30am to 12.30pm and set up would start at 10am and you would be finished once everything is clear up about 1pm. For more information please call 01753 860685 or email.


Would you be an Angel? Maidenhead Street Angels are local volunteers who patrol the town centre on Saturday nights (and the last Friday each month) from 10pm until midnight or just after, looking out for anyone who could be vulnerable. This could include people who are homeless, walking on their own, intoxicated, receiving unwanted attention or just upset and lonely.
