The Desborough Park Flood Alleviation Scheme, previously titled Brill Close, was originally proposed following floods in Oldfield and Cox Green wards in 2007 and 2016, due to local pipework’s limited ability to drain away rain water during storm events.
The scheme will be mostly funded by the DEFRA grants. We are currently seeking planning permission from the Local Planning Authority.
This scheme aims to store storm water temporarily, using a storage basin at Desborough Park, to reduce flood risk to infrastructure and properties, before slowly releasing it back into the storm water pipes over time.
The basin is planned to be located in an area not currently being used for organised recreation. Following some initial ground investigation, a preliminary design works has been proposed. It is aimed that construction will begin in the new year following approvals such as Planning Permission.
Please refer to 'Further information' on the right-hand side to find out more about the scheme.

A survey was carried out in March and April 2025 which asked for residents' views on the scheme. The results of that survey have informed our current plans.
