Low Carbon Skills Fund Phase 2

The Council has secured funding to undertake heat decarbonisation studies across 31 of its buildings. This work is currently underway and completed at the end of March 2022. The outputs have been reviewed, and projects have been prioritised to ensure we achieve the rapid decarbonisation of our estate that is required.

The decarbonisation across our estate have been supported by the Governments Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme (PSDS).

Heat Network Mapping Analysis

The Council has secured funding to undertake heat mapping across the Borough to identify areas where there are potential sources of heat and areas of high heat demand. This will help inform work around possible heat networks in the future which could be an important way to decarbonise heat in the Borough. This feasibility study completed in Summer 2022. We are now reviewing the report and identifying the next steps.

Water use monitoring

Most council sites have had their old water meters replaced with automatic water meters. This means we can view half hourly water usage data at all RBWM sites on an online platform. This will allow us to quickly identify leaks and inefficient use quickly and act accordingly. This is a simple method of reducing our water usage.
