The Council declared an Environment and Climate emergency in 2019 and adopted its current Environment and Climate Strategy in 2020. It committed to taking action across four main themes, circular economy, energy, natural environment and transport.

The current strategy runs until the end of March 2026 and the Climate Partnership is working to deliver a refreshed strategy that recognises the challenges we face and brings together the whole borough to take action.

The new strategy will run from 2026-2035 with annual reporting and a full review in 2031. As you will see from the draft strategy, to reach our net zero goal by 2050 will require council, partners, the voluntary and community sector, businesses and residents to work together.

We need your feedback to ensure that this strategy can deliver a healthier and greener future for all in the borough.

Please fill out the survey below and share with family, friends and colleagues so we can ensure all voices are heard. The consultation will be running from Monday 19th January to Monday 2nd March 2026.

If you need any assistance accessing or completing the online survey you can ask for help from any of our library staff.

You can find the draft strategy in the key documents section of this page.
