THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN THIS CONSULTATION HOWEVER PLEASE NOTE THAT THE SURVEY IS NOW CLOSED FOR RESPONSES. WE ARE CURRENTLY ANALYSING THE FEEDBACK AND THE RESULTS WILL BE RELEASED IN DUE COURSE.
In our borough, 33% of carbon emissions come from the vehicles on our roads. The council is committed to tackling the climate emergency and switching the way we power our cars and vans is a critical component of this.
The sale of new petrol and diesel cars and vans in the UK will end in 2030, ushering in a new era of clean, electric vehicles on our roads. With no new petrol or diesel cars or vans entering the market, by 2040 it is predicted 4 in 5 drivers will have replaced their petrol or diesel vehicle with a zero-emission model. By 2050, this will be the case for virtually all vehicles.
Many residents and businesses have already embraced electric vehicles, and we know that many more are keen to do so. We recognise that for everyone to make the switch, the right charging infrastructure will need to be available around the borough. This draft plan, which we committed to deliver in our Corporate Plan 2021-2026, sets out how the council could play its role in ensuring this charging infrastructure is put in place, in readiness for the upcoming national bans on sales of petrol and diesel vehicles.
We want to make sure this plan will meet the needs that people have across our borough, so a draft version of the plan is being made available for public consultation. Feedback from this consultation will inform a revised and final version of the document.

Please review the draft plan (available to download from this web page) and then share your views by taking the survey below.
