Maidenhead Community Watch Association
Maidenhead Community Watch Association (MCWA) - was formed just over a year ago with the primary focus on helping to make Maidenhead a safer and more pleasant place in which to live and is aimed in particular at our elderly and vulnerable residents.
Our project is financially supported by generous assistance from The Prince Philip Trust Fund, TVP Windsor & Maidenhead, the Louis Baylis Trust, Maidenhead Lions and the Thames Valley PCC Community Fund.
Since last summer we have conducted over sixty free home security surveys for our elderly and vulnerable Maidenhead residents where we assess the security of the property for any potential vulnerability and make recommendations on safety and security improvement.
We can provide (fitting where required) free security items such as exterior motion sensor lights, dummy CCTV cameras, fake TVs, timer switches, window shock alarms, personal alarms, door chains, door spy holes etc.
MCWA has also taken the initiative and formed alliances with many other local organisations to help these residents as much as possible in order to focus our collective efforts in the most productive and cohesive way.
These include Optalis, the Mobile Library, GoodGym, the Lions regarding Careline, Draughtbusters and the Fire Service - who offer home safety inspections. We have supplies of Warm Bags from Green Doctor and ‘’Message in a Bottle’’ from the Lions.
We also publicise our project through regular features in RBWM Residents’ Newsletters and in social media, in particular our Maidenhead Community Advice and Safety Warnings Facebook which can be reached via this link - https://bit.ly/Maidenhead-Area - and which you are very welcome to join.
If you would like to play a part in this we would like to hear from you as we can always use some extra help with the assessments. A short and easy training session is provided.
