As the lead co-ordinator of the Health and Well Being Circle I visited one of our lovely volunteers last week for a catch up and she told me that alongside her full-time employment she also cares for her elderly neighbour who has no extended family and lives alone with early stage dementia and alzheimer's. The only time Mr A leaves his house is when she takes him on outings.

It was during this conversation that I mentioned the wonderful work that a local commmunity group do called Men's Matters that help support older men to live longer and better by improving their social lives. This is a fully funded group where men can enjoy a cup of tea and engage in social activities and friendly conversation. They often have short talks which are delivered by experts that focus on how men can live longer and better with lots of social trips ( pending goverment restrictions) to places that interest men, they also fund the transport, tickets and mobility support.

I am so pleased that Mr A will be attending this group next Wednesday and I hope this will give him something to look forward to each week.
