Conservation Volunteering
we are always grateful for help in our nature reserves and wildlife areas. Over the summer we need help maintaining the paths that enable visitors to access the sites and enjoy the wildlife. This involves woodchip, rakes, wheelbarrows and lots of steps!
This winter we are looking for groups of volunteers to help us plant a wildlife hedge at Deerswood Meadow in Maidenhead. Tree planting can only be done when the young bare-rooted whips (saplings) are dormant from December to February and can be transported without damaging their health. This is a great fun day out in a beautiful setting, learning all about tree planting and conservation while doing something positive for biodiversity and climate change mitigation. We provide all tools, supervision and risk assessments, no experience is required!
Sustainability Training
Our independently certified Carbon Literacy training will equip your staff with an understanding of how their daily choices at work and at home affect the climate crisis, and will empower them to consider climate change more fully, to have more positive conversations about climate change, and to make more informed decisions. Carbon Literacy training is delivered over two 4 hour Teams sessions. Alternatively, we are currently developing a Carbon Action Toolkit course as a more streamlined, in-person experience over half a day at the beautiful Braywick Nature Centre in Maidenhead. We also offer Outdoor Skills and Awareness training, to cover basic ecology, plant ID and bushcraft survival skills.
Wellbeing and Teambuilding
Learn how to improve staff wellbeing and psychological functioning through interacting with nature at Braywick Nature Centre. Learn to identify trees, birds, aquatic life, light a campfire, go forest bathing, experience an Earth Walk. A huge and growing body of research is showing that spending deliberate and focussed time in green space is good for everyone's mental, physical and emotional health. Over a day outdoors at Braywick Nature Centre, we use our expertise in conservation and outdoor learning to show people how they can connect with nature on a daily basis.
