The map at the bottom of this page details where in-store recycling facilities are located within the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead. These in-store recycling facilities recycle items that are typically not able to be recycled at home or at recycling centres, for example empty blister packs of medicine.
We have seen great improvements as a borough in our recycling rates over the past two years, which have increased from 45% in 2019/20 to 55.7% in 2021/22. With residents' help, we hope to further improve this recycling rate to 65% by 2035.
We are incredibly thankful to the residents that submitted in-store recycling points in the recent survey, which were used to populate the map. Now that the survey has closed, you are still able to submit additional in-store recycling points, which will help to keep it up to date. To submit additional recycling points, please see the below guide:
1. Click onto 'Go to map' at the bottom of this page. Then click on the '+' icon, which can be seen circled in the above image.
2. Once you've clicked the '+' icon, it will bring up the above selection of pins. The pin that you select from the list will depend on what material the in-store recycling point that you want to plot can recycle. In this example, we will choose 'soft plastics'.
3. Find the location on the map where the in-store recycling facility is located that you wish to plot. (You may have to search for the location on google maps and then compare the map to the map on RBWM Together to find the location of certain stores that aren't shown on the map) Drag the pin from the list on the left hand side and drop it onto the map. Once you have dropped the pin you can still move it around until you find your desired location.
4. Write the name of the store, followed by the address. Underneath this, write what can be recycled at this location. If you have an image of the recycling point, you can add this by clicking 'add image' (NB you don't need an image to submit an in-store recycling point). Once you have entered this information, click 'submit', and your pin will be sent for approval. Once approved it will appear on the map, which will help RBWM residents to have a better awareness of the in-store recycling points in their area!
