The Climate and Sustainability Team
Our Sustainability and Climate Change Team
At the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, our Sustainability and Climate Change Team is committed to creating a greener, more sustainable future for our community. The team is led by our Sustainability and Climate Change Lead, who oversees the coordination and strategic direction of our environmental initiatives.
Under this leadership, our efforts are organised into three key sub-teams, each with its own specialised focus:
Ecology Team: This team plays a vital role in protecting and enhancing our local biodiversity. It consists of a Graduate Ecologist and a Principal Ecologist, who work together to ensure that our natural habitats are preserved and that wildlife can thrive in our borough.
Energy Team: Focused on reducing our carbon footprint, the Energy Team is integral to achieving our net zero targets. The team includes a Net Zero Manager, an Energy Analyst, a Climate Partnership Coordinator, and a Sustainable Policy Officer. Together, they develop and implement policies that drive energy efficiency, promote renewable energy, and support the transition to a low-carbon economy.
Natural Environment Team: Dedicated to safeguarding our natural landscapes, this team manages our nature reserves, and green spaces. The team is composed of a Natural Environment Manager, a Natural Environment Officer, a Natural Reserves Ranger, a Nature Recovery Strategy Manager, and an Environmental Engagement Manager. They work on projects that restore ecosystems, enhance biodiversity, and engage the community in environmental stewardship.
In addition to these teams, we also have a dedicated Sustainability Officer who supports our overarching sustainability goals, ensuring that our projects and policies are aligned with our commitment to a sustainable future.
Our team is passionate about making the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead a leader in sustainability, and we are proud to work towards a cleaner, greener, and more resilient community.
