Library Volunteers - RBWM

RBWM Library volunteers are beacons in the communities our local libraries are located within. Volunteers are vital in helping libraries extend the activities on offer.

If you want to do something rewarding in your free time, you can come and help support or organise the range of activities set up to benefit residents in the community. Or if you have an idea for an activity that you’d like to run in the library for the benefit of the local community, tell us about it and we can work together to help make it happen. The Libraries offer opportunities to share your skills and learn new ones.

The Libraries is a great place for young people to volunteer during the summer school holidays or time permitting, throughout the year. This offers work relevant experience to build CVs, communication, self-organisation skills and boosts self-confidence.

Join us at the Library to support the library service that you care about.

Lending library - Help with shelving, take care of book stock, reservations, interacting and signposting readers and visitors to what they require. Good familiarity with the internet and computers is necessary.

Rhymetime and Storytime - Share your sense of fun, creativity and laughter by bringing books to life by reading stories, doing crafts and singing rhymes to the under-5s.

Home Library Service - The home library service brings books to housebound readers. This ensures housebound readers are able to access the library as well as look forward to a friendly visit and chat at their doorstep.

Book group leader - Enjoy sharing reading experiences with others by starting a book group in the Library – comes with free access to hundreds of books for the group.

IT drop-in session support – Have the patience and be the friendly face that offers step by step guidance to those who need help with completing online forms, new digital devices, or other general computing issues.

Activity volunteer – Help with preparing and holding a wide range of literary and special themed activities in the community for adults and children – Code Club is one example.

Summer Reading Challenge 2021 – Be a Wild Champion this summer and beyond. Be part of the library team to encourage children to read and learn about what wildlife lives around them and how to champion it in their lives. The theme this year is about protecting wildlife and the planet.
