Tech Buddy

Sight loss can take away independence and confidence, and leave those affected isolated. Berkshire Vision supports hundreds of blind and partially sighted children and adults across the county, helping them to live their lives to the full.

We are looking for Tech Buddies to help our visually impaired members if they have an issue with their smartphone, tablet or virtual assistance device.

In the first instance, you will try to help the Member remotely over the phone. Sometimes, volunteers will visit the Member’s home. You will always be free to choose whether you would like to do the home visit or not.

Your role may involve installing apps on Members’ devices, or software to help the visually impaired service user to manage their household matters online more easily.

Tech Buddies are also invited to support our monthly tech hubs.

Please note that applicants for this position need to be aged 18 or over. Our application procedure for this role consists of an application form, 2 references, DBS check. All volunteers are invited to training before commencing the role.
