Money Management

Budgeting course – working with our adult learning service, a budgeting course has been created to help people learn how to manage their money more effectively

Here to Help webpage – the page on the RBWM website is constantly being reviewed and updated based on the suggestions of residents and community groups. This includes adding information on how to save money.

Library support promotion at world café events – the libraries are important assets within our communities and offer a range of different cost-of-living related services. At each world café event the library team has a stand to showcase the support they can offer residents.

Food

‘Cooking on a budget’ course – similar to the budgeting course, our adult learning service has also created a course teaching people how to cook on a budget

West Windsor Hub goody bags – at the World Café event, West Windsor Hub provided residents with a goody bag containing ingredients and a recipe card that could be taken home and followed. The aim of the goody bag was to demonstrate how a few low-cost ingredients could be used to create a tasty and nutritious meal.

Mental Health

August World Café in August, another World Café event will be taking place in Clewer & Dedworth West. The focus of the event will be around young people and mental health support in the area.

‘How to manage stress’ on webpage – there are a number of stress management resources that have been added to the RBWM Here to Help page

ECR subgroups – all of the subgroups promote community links and community cohesion which has a positive effect on mental health. The groups have come up with their own projects that have been open to all residents to take part in. For more information on these groups and projects, visit: Our Communities | RBWM Together

Transport

Cycle Hub promotion – the Cycle Hub is a great asset within Windsor and Maidenhead. Greater efforts have been made to advertise the Cycle Hub to residents and shout out about the different services they offer in order to promote cycling to the wider community. A dedicated page about the Windsor Cycle Hub is also being developed on the RBWM Together platform to further increase awareness of their organisation.

Dr Bike sessions – the Cycle Hub have organised Dr Bike sessions with the Mosque in response to the feedback that emerged from the World Café event. Dr Bike sessions provide free MOTs for bikes. The aim of these sessions is to provide free upkeep sessions for people’s bikes to get them back into cycling as an alternative to other transport methods

Housing

Fuel poverty energy schemes promotion – the Here to Help page on the RBWM website is being continuously updated with information on the different energy schemes that are on offer. There is a dedicated section on getting help with paying energy bills

DraughtBuster leaflets in goody bags – at the World Café event, DraughtBusters leaflets were given to residents. DraughtBusters is a free draught proofing service for those in need.

Community Links

·Apna Virsa digital skills classes – Apna Virsa run digital skills classes for the older community in RBWM. In response to the feedback from the world café event, we have helped Apna Virsa apply for funding to keep these classes running and to potentially expand so that they can be offered on a more regular basis. We will continue to support them to promote their classes and connect with other community groups

Innovation Funding – the innovation funding has been targeted for projects that promote good community links. Some projects that have been funded so far include a community boundary walk, Tai Chi classes and a ramp for the Bowling Club to promote disability inclusive bowling groups.

ECR subgroups – the ECR project built on the community spirit that emerged from the COVID-19 pandemic. Some of our groups have up to 20 residents in attendance and continue to meet on a regular basis and are open to all.

Ageing Population

Grants for ageing – information on grants for ageing has been added to the Here to Help webpage and will be continuously updated

Ascot & Eton World Cafes – there are immediate plans to hold World Café events in Ascot and Eton where there is a significantly higher proportion of older community members compared with the rest of the Borough. This will enable us to promote the cost of living support available to this cohort in a non-digital way

Apna Virsa digital skills classes – Apna Virsa run digital skills classes for the older community in RBWM.
