Overview
We are consulting to change an existing Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO). PSPOs create legal powers to help authorities address specific anti-social behaviour issues in an area that are having a detrimental effect on the quality of life for those in the local community.
Cycling in pedestrianised zones in Windsor and Maidenhead
We recently extended the PSPO for cycling on the specified areas of Peascod Street, Windsor and High Street, Maidenhead for a further three years. During the public consultation for extending this PSPO, we received some valuable feedback suggesting that a more balanced approach would be beneficial for cyclists whilst still protecting pedestrians. Based on this feedback, we are asking residents whether they agree with our proposals to align our PSPO to apply during the same times as the restrictions for vehicles which is between the hours of 10am to 5pm daily. The PSPO currently prohibits cycling 24/7 at both locations.
This PSPO relates specifically to parts of Peascod Street, Windsor and parts of High Street, Maidenhead. You can see maps with the defined areas on the existing order in related documents.
Consultation: How to have your say
We encourage our residents to state whether they agree or disagree with the proposal, to offer any further comments or suggestions, and share experiences of any other anti-social behaviour issues in public spaces. Your feedback will be analysed and shared with all councillors to help inform future discussions and decisions concerning the PSPOs.
Please view a draft copy of the order on the right-hand side and fill out our survey below to have your say. The consultation process will end on Wednesday 5 June 2024.
