Consultation for the new SEN Unit at Hilltop First School
It is proposed that the Resourced Provision becomes an SEN Unit on 1st September 2025. This provision will continue to cater for pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans that identify Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) as their primary need which may or may not occur alongside an autistic profile.
The new provision will help:
meet the needs of a growing population.
provide more provision for those children with an EHCP for SLCN who would benefit from attending a mainstream school at a location closer to their home address, and:
reduce the number of SLCN children at Manor Green, freeing up places for the school’s primary purpose, which is educating children and young people with more complex, profound multiple learning difficulties.
The objective of the proposal is to provide more local provision for children with special educational needs, reducing the numbers who have to travel further afield for suitable provision.
The proposed alteration to the Resourced Provision at Hilltop First School to make it an SEN Unit will further improve the offer by providing a higher level of support than currently available at the Resourced Provision.
You can share your views on this proposal by:
Completing the online survey below, or
If you have received a paper copy of the survey you can submit your response by:
Returning it to Hilltop First School, who will send it on to us.

The consultation closes on Friday 13th June 2025. All online and paper responses must be received by this date.
