Bridging Hear

Project Update (21 July 2026)
By WIDE

The Bridging Hearts project continues to provide vital support to 27 vulnerable and older BAME women living in the Maidenhead and Windsor Borough who are experiencing loneliness and social isolation.

With the arrival of warmer weather, project activities have successfully transitioned from the community centre to a local park. This shift has created a more accessible, relaxed, and welcoming environment, encouraging increased participation and stronger engagement among participants.

Many of the women involved in the project live alone, have limited English proficiency, or face cultural and financial barriers that restrict their ability to engage in mainstream social activities. The project remains committed to addressing these challenges by creating inclusive opportunities for connection, wellbeing, and community participation.

As part of the programme, a group of 22 women and girls took part in a day trip to Brighton on 18 July 2026. The trip provided a valuable opportunity for social interaction, cultural exploration, and enjoyment in a supportive group setting.

Day Trip Itinerary (18 July 2026):

  • 09:00 AM – Departure
  • 10:30 AM – Morning Stroll: Visit to Brighton Palace Pier to enjoy the seaside atmosphere, arcade games, and traditional fish and chips
  • 12:30 PM – Lunch & The Lanes: Exploration of The Lanes, featuring accessible walkways, tearooms, independent shops, and restaurants
  • 03:00 PM – Royal Pavilion: Visit to the Royal Pavilion Estate and its beautiful gardens, offering a peaceful space to relax
  • 04:30 PM – Seafront & Treats: Leisure time along the seafront, including ice cream and souvenir shopping
  • 06:00 PM – Departure: Return journey to London Victoria, arriving at approximately 7:00 PM

The Brighton trip was a highlight of the month, offering participants a chance to build friendships, boost confidence, and experience a sense of joy and inclusion outside their usual environment.

The Bridging Hearts project continues to play a crucial role in improving wellbeing, reducing isolation, and fostering a sense of belonging among women who might otherwise remain disconnected from their communities.
