Oaken Grove Park - 43 Acorns Planted!

Today (4th Oct 2025) we planted 43 Acorns in the borders in the west of the park near the basket ball courts. These acorns were collected from ancient oaks and the hope is that they germinate over the winter and start their journey growing into beautiful mature oak trees that will look lovely and provide a home for lots of biodiverse wildlife. Once mature they will form an actual grove of Oak trees in Oaken Grove Park! The acorns were planted in groups of three or four within protective biodegradable trees guards. In Spring 2026 we will inspect the tree guards and select the best of the acorns that have germinated to grow in oak saplings and then in time full oak trees!
