Public Health Task & Finish Group
Reducing loneliness and social isolation is a key priority for the council. These regular meetings brought together individuals and organisations working in the community to discuss the following:
- Who is impacted by loneliness and social isolation, what are their needs, and how might we connect with them?
- What would enable people experiencing loneliness to better connect with other individuals, organisations or services in the community?
- What assets or services currently exist in the community to support people experiencing loneliness, and how can we maximise the benefits of these?
The outcomes from this group were to map the assets available in the community for tackling loneliness/social isolation, understand any barriers faced by residents or organisations (and possible solutions), and understand how we can identify and support our residents experiencing loneliness to access these assets.
This work wasn’t about developing something new, but about bringing organisations together to understand how we can maximise the use of these assets for residents, and what support the council can provide to enable this.
