This programme aims to support RBWM and wider council staff to utilise their allocated volunteering time to support the Borough's voluntary and community sector (VCS).

We know that volunteering can be done in a myriad of ways. Our Skills Programme aims to support our VCS by working with them to identify areas where they need to develop or build capacity e.g., recruitment, marketing, financial monitoring or project management.

We then match up the VCS with a staff member who has knowledge and experience in that particular area and facilitate either a one-off or a series of workshops on that subject that fits around everyone's availability and need.

Windsor Horse Rangers are a charity that run workshops educating children about horse riding and care. They are keen to get started with upskilling from council staff like you!

Community groups: Sign up now!

Across RBWM council, we have a wide range of staff skilled in different areas who are keen to share their expertise with you. We hope that this will benefit groups like yours massively with building capacity. This can support operational, strategic and business planning.

You will be supported by us at the Communities Team to identify areas where your group may need extra support, and then we will match you with a member of staff who's skillset lies within this area.

On the right-hand side, you will find examples of the kinds of documents we will encourage you to fill in to identify your group's areas of need.

We will also facilitate workshops and support staff in creating training material.

RBWM staff: Become a Mentor

Join this new and exciting programme to give back to your local community!

Volunteering also has many benefits for the volunteer, such as providing an opportunity to meet new people and support your mental wellbeing.

You can choose to commit as little or as much time as you wish. We have some FAQs on the right-hand side that we recommend you take time out to read.

We recommend 12 hours maximum across a three-month period, which will be agreed with the VCS group depending on their needs.
