Maidenhead Community Book Festival CIC

Do you have a passion for reading? We are a community volunteer group seeking more members to help us plan and carry out our annual Maidenhead's Big Read festivals. We aim to support local schools in improving the educational attainment of children through reading; to bring families and neighbours together to share books and stories; and to encourage children to develop a love of reading.

Our events take place in March each year to coincide with World Book Day, and we aim to reach all children, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds and reluctant readers. We plan to put on a series of events at local schools and in Maidenhead town centre.
We'd love more people to join our small and friendly committee of volunteers! No previous experience is necessary, and there is a wide variety of tasks you can get involved in, including social media, applying for funding, approaching authors, illustrators and storytellers to join our festival line-up, writing meeting minutes, creating publicity and marketing material, and event planning.
