Spring Clean
by Mark Jervis, almost 2 years ago
Spring is when the council restarts grass cutting on many parks and recreation areas used by children. Unfortunately there's no litter picking before grass cutting, leaving many smashed bottles and shreded cans right where children play.
Over the past few months I've been clearing out rubbish from the green areas around Wolf Lane and Foster Ave, in addition to the local streets on my morning walks. Say hello if you see me around - and do remember to take your rubbish home.

Daily litter picks around St. Leonard's Hill
by Mark Jervis, about 2 years agoI take litter-pickers with me each half-hour morning walk and average a small carrier bag full - including more than three discarded dog poo bags - every single day. I'm only limited by the capacity of my bin (and other local litter bins on Wolf Lane and Hemwood when I pass). Another public litter bin around Washington Drive would be a great help, especially with the amount of poo bags, cans and bottles left along the lane from Washington Drive to St. Leonard's Hill.

Around St. Leonard's Hill
by Mark Jervis, over 2 years agoCollected over eight full bags from along Winkfield Road between Clewer Hill Road and just past Legoland, three from Wolf Lane, and two from Illingworth, St. Leonard's Hill and Hemwood Road.
Unfortunately still lots of rubbish in the ditch along Winkfield Road, which has been the site of multiple fly tippings over the past years.
Hopefully you'll notice the difference in amount of rubbish around the area.

Halloween Clear Up
by Mark Jervis, over 2 years ago
I regularly take a picker out on my morning walks to do something useful while getting in some exercise. Generally I collect a carrier bag full very quickly - especially after Halloween, with all the discarded sweet wrappers. On longer walks it's a full dustbin bag. Hopefully if you're round the area of St.Leonard's Hill, Hemwood Road and Illingworth you might have noticed the difference.
I'm only limited by what I can fit in my own bin each collection. Does the council have a scheme of providing bags for litter picking that will be collected alongside the black bins?

Collected over 5 full dustbin bags of rubbish from around St. Leonard's Hill on my regular morning walks. The local pathways in particular were filled with discarded cans, dog-poo bags, cigarette butts, and all sorts of other rubbish. Poo bags from dog walkers is the biggest regular littering,
