Cllr Carole DaCosta – West Windsor Hub
I have lived in Clewer & Dedworth East for over 20 years, I worked in the community as a community midwife at Dedworth Medical Centre.
I was involved in establishing the West Windsor Hub in March 2020 in response to the national lockdown due to COVID-19. The community hub offered help and support to those who were shielding or unable to get out for their essentials easily. The volunteers from the hub offer shopping services, prescription services, emergency food bags and boxes with recipe cards, food-packs during the school holidays for children, healthy snack packs, as well as providing extra food provisions through surplus to families.
I wanted to get involved in the project due to my strong links with the community and my work at the West Windsor Hub. I know the community well as its where I live and work, its where my passion and heart is. Through the project we can build a better community for those that have a lesser start in life and break the cycle of deprivation and give people better life chances so they can be everything they can be.
I represent the West Windsor Hub in the local Food Network. Through the network the West Windsor Hub has been contacted with other charitable food organisations locally and together we work towards addressing the local food need and to avoid duplication.
