Dear colleagues, I am writing on behalf of a Breast Cancer charity called Sakoon Through Cancer supporting
South Asian Woman through Breast Cancer. With the recent news of the passing of Sarah
Harding, the Girls Aloud star, the charity would like to reach out to your pupils from all
backgrounds. When it comes to self-care and knowledge around breast cancer we could
support with the following: - Raise awareness that cancer does not discriminate
- Educate on what Breast Cancer is and how to engage in breast health and pass that
information on to their parents/grandparents
- Offer support to anyone that might need it, especially if they are from the South
Asian Community, or from heavily cultured backgrounds with unspoken truths and
taboos around body and health with a Q&A
This can be offered to both girls and boys but primarily we would like to reach out to the
girls in your school.
If you would like to discuss this further, please get in contact to book a visit as we are keen
to share our knowledge as early detection saves lives. The schools and colleges we currently work with use this opportunity as a PSHE lesson and
feedback has been great as young people value the safe space to share their experiences, we have delivered workshops to Year 10 & Year 11 students. Kind regards. Samina Hussain
