Telephone Befrienders

Sight loss can take away independence and confidence, and leave those affected isolated. Berkshire Vision supports hundreds of blind and partially sighted children and adults, helping them to live their lives to the full.

As a telephone befriender, you will be matched with a Berkshire Vision Member for a weekly phone call.

The aim of your phone call is to provide a friendly chat. It's not counselling or advice but friendly conversation. You will ask the Member about their week, and prompt conversation topics when necessary. Most calls last around 30 minutes.

After the call, you fill out an online form to let us know that you spoke to the Member. If anything came up that Berkshire Vision staff need to look at, you will note this on the form.

Please note that applicants for this position need to be aged 18 or over. Our application procedure consists of an application form and 2 references.
