Volunteering with Independent Seniors

Elizabeth House Cookham is the only independent charity day centre, in the Maidenhead part of RBWM. We were established in 1981 and our members are all independent seniors who still live on their own or have visiting carers but are still independent in basic daily care and activities. Our members are aged 60-102 and are great fun, interesting and determined to remain active in brain and body and definitely spirit! We are open to all who live in Cookham and Maidenhead and the surrounding Berkshire villages.

We have only 3 staff but an army of volunteers who are semi-retired or retired and whom we could not do without. They bring members in and home again, help with teas and coffees and catering, fundraising and activities or just chatting to the members in between!

We welcome all ages and would love to have more volunteers to be on standby and cover for regular duties or even find a regular slot for you - members are always asking for extra days but we don't always have enough drivers.
