This network is driven by the Maidenhead community and provides a platform to discuss health & wellbeing. Those involved will work collaboratively to develop projects that build on existing resources to shape the local area in ways that matter most to the community. Anyone from the Maidenhead community is more than welcome to get involved in regular meetings that explore the theme of health & wellbeing.

    Apna Virsa have been running digital skill classes for its older cohort to learn how to use smartphones, laptops etc. This enables people, who would otherwise be digitally excluded, access a range of different services that will benefit their health and wellbeing

    With support of the innovation fund, AV have secured additional funding to keep these classes running and to potentially expand this project to allow more people to join

    On Sunday, Dr Kanwar gave another fantastic health talk at the Gurdwara in Maidenhead. His talk covered the various teams now working in Primary care- Social prescribers, physio OT, Physio, mental health practitioners, Clinical Pharmacists, ANPs and PAs and the difference between these roles.

    Over the last few months we have arranged regular health talks at the Gurdwara which have been carried out by a local GP, Dr Kanwar. The topics covered have included: diet & exercise, high blood pressure and cholesterol. The health talks have been a real success and have received some great feedback:

    As the lead co-ordinator of the Health and Well Being Circle I visited one of our lovely volunteers last week for a catch up and she told me that alongside her full-time employment she also cares for her elderly neighbour who has no extended family and lives alone with early stage dementia and alzheimer's. The only time Mr A leaves his house is when she takes him on outings.
