The role of a Community Information Champion is to act as an informal ambassador, spreading key messages to your social and professional networks via word of mouth, your communication channels, or through community groups or organisations you represent.

The Community Information Champions group was first established in the Royal Borough during the COVID-19 pandemic. They played a critical role in the council’s Public Health engagement by ensuring key health information was shared widely with all residents, but especially isolated groups.

Building on the group’s achievements since the pandemic, the role of the Community Information Champions has developed. The influential group now shares information about a range of subjects which are of importance to our communities. So far this has included information about community projects, important surveys, cost-of-living support, the parking discount scheme, bird flu, and much more.

Community Information Champions are uniquely placed in the community to help share important information to those who might not otherwise receive news circulated by the council.

Anyone can be a Community Information Champions, whether you are in contact with hundreds of people or have small number of close contacts. The role is entirely flexible and allows you to share information that is most important to you and your networks whenever and wherever you want.
