about 5 years agoThrough research and conversations with residents to develop Abri’s Community Investment Plan, finding out what matters most to the Dedworth and Clewer community, Abri identified five key themes for potential community development, they were: Community Empowerment, Health & Wellbeing, Employment & Skills, Community Safety and Physical Environment. The project focused on these key themes.

about 5 years agoThe Clewer and Dedworth projects build on the fantastic community response to the coronavirus pandemic. Through connecting community assets together communities can become stronger, more resilient and independent and therefore be able to tackle local challenges. The projects also help deliver on council strategies at a community level and embodies how we would like to work with communities going forwards.

about 5 years agoBy creating the ‘Windsor Cycle Hub’ as a CIC we will be able to provide the community with a range of goods and services which overcome some of the barriers which prevent people cycling such as safety, price, knowledge and skills, confidence, and bike maintenance. It will therefore encourage more people to cycle regularly which will have a positive impact on our community’s health and well-being

about 5 years agoThrough the food network we have made connections with other charitable food organisations locally. We have been working collaboratively to understand and tackle the local food need whilst avoiding duplication. Together we are stronger and are best able to support the community, especially during this time.

about 5 years agoThe project has created an excellent platform for Green Earth Plan to work with residents and organisations in the Clewer and Dedworth community. It’s been exciting to see our plans for the community orchard come to life over the past months. The orchard is now home to 19 fruit trees of 17 different varieties including, apples, pears, plums, cherries, quinces and damsons which will fruit from early summer to late autumn. The orchard is a place of beauty and will enhance health and wellbeing as well as providing an opportunity for social gatherings and learning for many years to come.

The project has supported Green Earth Plan by facilitating DBS checks for us which will enable us to work with youth groups in the future, we have also been able to access grant funding for the project.
I think the project is a fantastic initiative and I am excited about what opportunities it will continue to bring to make a positive difference to the daily lives of residents and our local environment.
