Blokes Losing Timber Walk & Talk
by JonDavey, almost 3 years ago
Blokes Losing Timber (BLT) is about helping men lose “timber” in whatever shape that comes.
- You might want to lose a few pounds by walking regularly
- There is lots of talk around men’s mental health and exercise being good for that
- Work may be proving elusive or you may have too much on
- Come and share your struggles, others may have ideas that could help
- You might just want an excuse to get out of the housework
This is not a professional coaching session, it’s a gathering of blokes who first and foremost, what to go for a nice walk... Continue reading

This is not a professional coaching session, it’s a gathering of blokes who first and foremost, what to go for a nice walk and perhaps have a pint after.
Neither is it a dating agency!
BLT is aimed at blokes, of all ages, who would like to talk about this and that while enjoying a nice walk (usually around 5 miles).
You might not want to talk, preferring to listen… that’s fine too.
We currently host BLT Walk & Talks 3 days a month and will run more as volunteers step up to lead the way…
2pm Saturday 3rd June – Meet at Alexandra Gardens bandstand
10am Tuesday 13th June – Meet at Two Brewers, Park Street, Windsor
12pm Thursday 22nd June – Meet at Swan Pub, Mill Lane, Clewer

Our parents group is now up and running in Datchet. Meeting weekly, our little community is growing and we have new parents joining regularly. Tea, coffee, biscuits and a sympathetic ear are a good starting point, but we are looking at providing additional support through guests speakers such as GPs, dentists, dieticians and more.

Our Lunch Club members enjoying their afternoon cream tea for the King's Coronation. We held the cream tea on a Friday, as well as our regular lunch club on a Thursday, meaning our members had another social outing that week. The Club helps to prevent loneliness and build friendships between the elderly members of our local community.

Our first Wellbeing Walk Leader training was held in February, and we are pleased to confirm that a second date has now been added. This will be held on Tuesday 20th June from 10am – 2pm.
Regular walking has huge benefits for individuals both physically and mentally and we want to increase opportunities available for people to take part in regular organised walking groups.
If you are a local organisation, charity or individual looking to volunteer and would be interested in leading a regular walk, please get in touch to find out more about the FREE walk leader training.

Yesterday saw the last session of 6 weeks for the pilot slow cooker course in Dedworth & Clewer, Windsor.
Everyone attending received a free Slow cooker, recipes and a meal pack each week. There were extra carrots from the Sawyers Close community garden too.
We had 20 regular attendees and amazing feedback, here are some of the comments residents made:
“Great course, I have looked forward to attending each week.”
“I really enjoyed taking part and it's nice to meet new people. I would highly recommend to other people to do the course.”

“I really enjoyed taking part and it's nice to meet new people. I would highly recommend to other people to do the course.”
“I did not realise you could cook so many things in the slow cooker from sweet to savoury, that was a surprise for me.”
“I have learnt how to use new spices to me. How to use slow cooker. How to mix different vegetables in one dish.”
“Course was well run, I enjoyed being part of a group. I am looking forward to the whatsapp group continuing”.
“My favourite thing to make was Banana bread I made it first time and it turned out perfect.”
The Chicken Risotto and Banana bread were by far the favourites recipes and the group have set up a WhatsApp group to continue the learning and sharing of
recipes too!
