We had the pleasure of meeting local residents, councillors and other service providers at the World Cafe event today at Maidenhead Community Centre. We’ve made some great contacts to help us on our fundraising and service provision journey and signed up some volunteers as well!

Thank you to Nicky, Sumayyah and the rest of the team for organising us all and we look forward to future events.

    Walk Leader Training Opportunities

by Helen Park, almost 2 years ago

Maidenhead United FC Community Trust staff have now completed training delivered by the Ramblers to support volunteers to become walk leaders for Ramblers Wellbeing Walks. This training will enable us to support our new and existing partners and local volunteers to increase locally led walking opportunities for our local residents.

Regular walking has huge benefits for individuals both physically and mentally and this is a real opportunity to increase the opportunities for people to take part in regular organised walking groups and reap the benefits of doing so.

The Trust would like to hear from organisations and individuals who would be... Continue reading

The lovely committed ladies demonstrating ‘dancing with rainbows’.

I am so impressed with how well they are doing, their desire to learn (even some theory!) and keenness to practice at home.

I love hearing the positive feedback which inspires me to bring new practices to the class which are always well received.

A room full of excited students for our limited mobility yoga (could not get all of them on the photo) - and from chatting to them this morning, they came for yoga and community, too, which really makes my heart smile. A lovely group, with our oldest student being 87 years old, and the youngest 70!

    Nature's Haven...and we're off and running!

by Nature's Haven, about 2 years ago

Nature's Haven's mission is to enable our community to access and learn about the therapeutic benefits of gardening and nature within a peaceful haven that provides nourishment for the mind, body and soul.

We attended our first festival this August at Braywick Nature Park in Maidenhead. We met some wonderful people and really engaged the kids and some adults with ‘What’s in the Box’, Nature Trails, colouring sheets and our Hope to Home© offering giving each child the opportunity to plant a sunflower seed, take it home and nurture it. We also had wildflower seeds for people to take home... Continue reading

Having delivered a very successful Summer Term of IT classes in Slough and Maidenhead, we are working towards our next term after taking a small holiday break. We have set up various taster sessions in three different venues to attract different sections of community and from there we will set up longer classes. Taster sessions are an excellent way to assess need, work out ability levels, number of people and venue preferences. Through this funding, we are aiming to help as many people as we can so we are constantly working on attracting new participants especially the ones who are... Continue reading

Windsor Street Angels - Volunteer Open Evening

by windsorstreetangels, about 2 years ago

During the Summer Windsor Street Angels continue to support the vulnerable across Windsor Town Centre and in our hub on a Friday and Saturday night. Our shift times are 10pm - 4am and we held an open evening during slightly more sociable hours to help answer questions to prospective volunteers. With five new volunteer sign ups this summer we have been able to expand the hub opening hours to include the Friday on August Bank Holiday weekend.

Interest and numbers slowly growing for the class running at All Saints Church Parish Centre.

Despite the low attendance I am confident that through word of mouth from the current participants numbers will increase.

    Here is some feedback from some of the class members;

“Looked after the grandchildren this week and my daughter said ‘what are you on mum?, you’re like the Duracell bunny! Great improvement in energy” - Anne

“Try it, it’s amazing” - JS

“Great improvement for my balance and overall fitness” - MR

“Only been for 2 weeks but am finding it relaxing”

A lovely group who... Continue reading

A slow start to our project. In the process of appointing an architectural practice to assess options and prepare design for new access ramp together with modifications of doorways etc. This will allow us to invite tenders for the work.

As this project is the start of making the club fully accessible the designers will also be considering everything else we need to change so that we can develop a comprehensive budget for the whole scheme. This will allow us to seek the additional funds which will be needed.

    Ready to start in September!

Yes, we are getting ready to start the programme, we have had a big community response and have now filled the first class 80% confirmed. Just used the grant this week to purchase some of the equipment we need to run this class: chairs, and yoga balls to get the feet and ankles mobile (important when you work on balance from the ground up).
