New Year's Eve is historically the busiest night of the year for the Windsor Street Angels, although lockdowns have reduced the footfall in recent years it's a time where many find themselves vulnerable whether through low moods and loneliness or through enjoying themselves a little too much whilst out with their friends.

Whilst New Years Eve is just one night, 2022 has been a busy year where we have helped over 4000 people, supporting Royal Ascot as well as the night time economy in Windsor as well as important events like the Royal Funeral.

Limited Mobility Yoga - Last 2022 Session

by UnwindYS, over 3 years ago
We have just had our lovely group of 70+ students get together for a Christmassy last 2022 session - gentle yoga with movement and always lots of laughs, plus tea and mince pies after! The group has grown really close, it's SO lovely to see. We look forward to having them back in 2023 as we continue the programme and will probably be able to step it up a little - the participants have become stronger and more mobile and want to challenge themselves to progress gently to be able to do more.

    Happy Holidays to all,

    Sandra

    Soup Project

by LornaHS, over 3 years ago

We launched out Soup Project in November with two sessions. They were a great sucess and we had 8 people attend each session, with a few taking soup away with them as well. It was lovely to cook alongside a range of people and share stories and ideas. We have tried some interesting flavours, which have inspired residents to try their own recipes (which we will be collecting for our recipe book).

    BLT door knocking

    BLT Building Brand Awareness

During November and December we are looking to connect with businesses and individuals in Windsor who have an interest in men’s health, wellbeing and happiness.

We have made a list of 100 categories and am using Google to find local businesses. Any ambitious business is going to have a listing and so it is a good place to start.

So far we have emailed the following profiles: Slimming Clubs, Dieting & Weight Control, Nutritionists & Dieticians, Aerobics, Boxing club, Fitness Instructors, Football club, Health Centres, Personal Trainer, Pilates, Tai Chi, Tennis club, Yoga in Windsor.

This will build our list of BLT Experts who we will invite to have a profile on the BLT website. We are currently working on a number of questions that we will ask in a ZOOM interview and share via Youtube, Facebook and our blog. So far, after contacting 24 potential local experts, 4 have stepped up interested in being one of our BLT Experts.

We have also been out and about in the local area delivering our new brochure which is looking good. Hand delivering through approx 500 local doors which also ensures we get our daily exercise ;)

We can track any follow ups by noting the visitors to our website and as we start publishing our expert videos, these numbers will naturally start climbing.

    Thank you.

Limited Mobility Yoga - Feedback Is In

by UnwindYS, over 3 years ago

So the reason it took a little longer to update here again was that I had put together a feedback from - and hear it from the horse's mouth, so to speak!

Here is a sample of what our lovely 70+ yogis said about the Limited Mobility Yoga (more will be in the case study):

    Why did you start yoga?

    • I wanted to try a form of exercise I could cope with which would help my body and mind
    • Needed easier movement exercise after recovering from breast cancer

How do you feel after a few yoga sessions?

    • Needed easier movement exercise after recovering from breast cancer

How do you feel after a few yoga sessions?

    • Happy with classes , wanting to continue
    • I am more aware of my body and I am moving better

Have you noticed a difference in how you feel, good or bad, in body and mind?

    • Felt better after the second session. More alert physically and mentally
    • Has helped with neck tension

What is your favourite thing about the yoga sessions?

    • Teacher has a sunny disposition which is contagious
    • Lovely tutor. No pressure to perform. Small supportive group. Feels comfortable and relaxing environment.

    What can we do better?

    • Very satisfied, make sure instructions are loud enough
    • Nothing - carry on with what you do

Would you recommend the limited mobility yoga sessions?

    • Every response said:"YES!!"

Anything else you would like to share?

    • Please keep going with the classes
    • Start the class at 11 and not 10-45!

I love getting this valuable feedback and will take the ideas into account for the next sessions.

    Have a great week all!

    Sandra

We had the pleasure of meeting local residents, councillors and other service providers at the World Cafe event today at Maidenhead Community Centre. We’ve made some great contacts to help us on our fundraising and service provision journey and signed up some volunteers as well!

Thank you to Nicky, Sumayyah and the rest of the team for organising us all and we look forward to future events.
