What is a RBWM World Cafe?

  • An informal networking event where residents can have open conversations about what matters most to them, access relevant support and mingle with other residents/groups

We have now held a World Cafe style event in every ward across the Borough.

For each event we have compiled an evaluation and outcomes report that summarises the key themes and priorities that residents discussed and the actions that were taken post event.

The reports are available to view under the 'Documents' tab on the right

We are now working on the next steps of the programme and will use the World Cafe insights to generate sustainable resident-led solutions to the issues that matter most to residents. To find out more please visit our Innovation Fund page.

For an overview of each World Café event please see the 'Previous World Cafe's' tab below

For any questions, please email Sumayyah.Zeib@RBWM.gov.uk

Stands included the Library, Cookham Footprint, Health Watch, Optalis providing advice and support for Carers, Social Prescribing and Cookham Medical Practice. This was a small, intimate and personal World Cafe but 1-1 and group conversations proved invaluable and extremely powerful with some excellent resident ideas and solutions! Residents really enjoyed the warmth of good conversation, good company and the extent of information provided! Lots of information and support was provided on the cost of living to support our communities alongside materials on public health such as the FLU and COVID vaccines over a cuppa.

Another great World Cafe event at Eton Wick Village Hall. This was an evening event and we had about 55 attendees. The event was split into to halves. The first half involved residents sitting down and having conversations around cost of living and coming up with potential solutions. The second half was networking and hot dogs! There were an array of stands such as the Green Doctor, Social Prescribing and People 2 Places.

Yesterday's World Cafe event was a huge success with 65 residents and stakeholders in attendance.

We were also joined by the Green Doctor who travelled from London to promote some of the fuel and energy support they offer

Attendees also enjoyed free "posh" hotdogs courtesy of Les and his Fun Food Station!

Some great conversations took place with our facilitator Julia and the team will now review the discussions and write up the evaluation and outcomes report

We held our 4th World Cafe event on 9th August at New Windsor Community Association. The event was aimed at young people and was a chance for this group to feedback to us about what their concerns and ideas are. Attendees had the opportunity to talk to our facilitator Steve about their local area and how they envisioned it changing over the next 20 years. Overall, the event was successful with around 28 residents and organisations in attendance. There was also a raffle for a free go karting family ticket as well as Dominos pizza!

Our Hurley World Cafe took place on 21st July 2022 at Hurley Village Hall.

The event was smaller than our previous events with 16 people in attendance.

We have learnt that for our future World Cafe events we may need to adapt the format to better reflect the support that is needed in the community. For example, for our Walthams World Cafe we will be adopting a speed networking format to allow residents learn about as many services as possible.

Last Wednesday, we held our first World Cafe at Woody's Cafe with around 70 people in attendance! We received some great feedback from the residents and organisations in attendance and overall, participants felt that they had been listened to and supported.

With around 10 stands from organisations such as Optalis, Berkshire Fire Service and West Windsor Hub, residents were able to get information on a range of information related to cost of living.
